It's already fixed in the nightly builds according to the very article you linked to. VLC Media Player is a fine player, though it does not support .ass subtitles to my knowledge, which is very disappointing for those of us that watch things with high quality stylized subtitles. I've been using VLC Player for quite a while and I'm hugely impressed by it's usability. It supports almost all formats. Few days ago i downloaded a video file which was is OGM format. I don't know what format was that. I tried playing it with VLC Player. It worked. Among all other media player, VLC Player stands alone with it's simplicity and usability. Highly recommended.
