OpenArena is an open source first-person shooter game based on the ioquake3 fork of the id tech 3 engine. OpenArena’s gameplay is the exact same as Quake III Arena – score frags to win the game using a balanced set of weapons each designed for different situations.

Gameplay modes exist such as deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tournament, and Capture The Flag (all modes also in the original game). Bot support was added in version 0.6.0.
OpenArena has undergone compatibility testing with some Quake 3 mods.Open Arena does not have a set story line. The models do not follow a set theme with some being military, fantasy, or oriental themed.
