I'm perfectly happy using scite and filezilla for my web design.  However, where I work they want more of a GUI interface and have decided to use Dreamweaver as their default editor.  That includes using such features as Dreamweaver templates and check in/check out capabilities.  I'd like to either find or write some tools that will let me continue to work with Open Source software but be able to interact with others who are using Dreamweaver.  Does anyone have any information on an Open Source alternative that's completely compatible with Dreamweaver templates or any information on how Dreamweaver templates affect directory information in a web page?  I took a quick look at dwt.pl with Quanta and tried to test it out, but it looks like it's for an older version of Dreamweaver than CS3.  I'd like to code my own tool to apply a Dreamweaver template to a file, if there's not one already available, but I need more info on how the templates work.  Any info on them or pointers to reference material would be greatly appreciated.  I think I can work with the Dreamweaver check in/check out process using any ftp program and a lock file, but if anyone knows of any tools written to specifically handle ftp check in and check out of files outside of Dreamweaver, please post about them.

Would greatly appreciate any pointers to Open Source utilities that can be used in conjunction with editors like scite or kompozer and can take the place of portions of  Dreamweaver functionality.

Thanks.

There are a couple of open source Dreamweaver alternatives that I can think of such as W3C's Amaya, Quanta Plus and possibly Mozilla's Seamonkey but when it comes to apps that interact with Dreamweaver, that's beyond my scope.

It would be great if someone could provide some precise recommendations...

Am seriously thinking about coding a few tools on my own.  I already have something coded that might be useable in applying a Dreamweaver template outside of Dreamweaver.  Just wondering if there's any interest in this area?  Is anyone else interested in getting tools to make text editors or Open Source html editors more compatible with Dreamweaver in case you're stuck using both kinds of editors?
I'd be interested to hear what features others are looking for in these kinds of tools.
