GIMPshop is a modification of the free/open source GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), intended to replicate the feel of Adobe Photoshop. Its primary purpose is to make users of Photoshop feel comfortable using GIMP.

It shares all GIMP’s advantages, including the long feature list and customisability, while addressing some common criticisms regarding the program’s interface: GIMPshop modifies the menu structure to closely match Photoshop’s, adjusts the program’s terminology to match Adobe’s, and, in the Windows version, uses a plugin called ‘Deweirdifier’ to combine the application’s numerous windows in a similar manner to the MDI system used by most Windows graphics packages. While GIMPshop does not support Photoshop plugins, all GIMP’s own plugins, filters, brushes, etc. remain available.

Rawstudio is an open-source program to read and manipulate RAW images from most digital cameras and convert RAW files into JPEG, PNG or TIFF images.

It has a graphical user interface, so you can simply open a RAW file and experiment with the controls to see how they affect the image. Rawstudio has a very simple architecture which is optimized for ease of use and therefore should be intuitive to most photographers.

The normal workflow would be that you first convert your RAW files and then use an image editing application to further work on your images. Rawstudio itself is a highly specialized application for processing RAW images, not a fully featured image editing application.

Key features include:

- Intuitive GTK+ interface
- Reads all dcraw supported formats
- Internal 16bit rgb
- Color management using Little CMS
- Batch processing
- Various post-shot controls (white balance, saturation and exposure compensation among others)
- Realtime histogram
- Optimized for MMX, 3dnow! and SSE (detected runtime)
- Exposure mask, cropping, straighten
- Easy sorting of images
- XML settings cache
- Basic EXIF-reading
And much more…
