The application’s key features include:

Social music

- See your friends’ music libraries and playlists and listen instantly. Add your favourite tracks to your library, create playlists of your own and publish them via Facebook, Twitter, email or any way you like.

- Import your friends from Facebook – or add your own – and have them updated automatically as you make new friends and find new artists.

Music in the cloud

- Robonobo plays tracks from the network immediately, so you can listen from anywhere, and downloads the music files and saves them on your computer so you can burn them to CD or export them to your music player.

- Future releases of the software will give artistis greater ability to control the distribution of their tracks and sell music directly through the app, as well as tapping into the social network around their music and making great relationships with their fans.

Copyright safe

- This technology will protect you by making sure you don’t accidentally share copyrighted music over the Internet, but it’s not finished yet – and until it is, we ask that you limit your music sharing to public-domain and Creative Commons tracks, and those made freely available by the artist. With power comes responsibility.

Airtime 1.9 was released on August 10th with a new file storage system that allowed users to set ‘watch’ folders, to synchronise files and to browse their audio archives. Also added were Shoutcast support, a one line Ubuntu install command and improved front-end widgets. 1.9.4 was released on September 27th with DEB packages for Ubuntu & Debian.

MediaCore features:

- users can browse video or audio added to the CMS from any device such as an Android, iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

- Create a podcast and publish unlimited episodes to it. The CMS generates the iTunes Feed and the RSS automatically.

- Store media anywere: YouTube, Vimeo, Google Video, on the Amazon S3 cloud, or on any server.

- Track comments, views and likes on published video and audio. The CMS automatically ranks the most popular items.

- Categorize and tag media to make it more searchable. Users can browse categories or search for videos.

- Support for both closed captioning and audio descriptions for the visually impaired is built into MediaCore Video CMS.

- Users can comment or share video or audio with their friends through the Twitter and FaceBook sharing features.

- Users can upload media via the upload interface. An admin is notified and can review and approve new content.

The program makes it easy to convert your audio CDs to MP3 or Ogg Vorbis files which you can use in your hardware player or with your favorite audio software. It supports the CDDB/freedb online CD database and CDText and automatically writes song information to ID3V2 or Vorbis comment tags.

BonkEnc is currently available in 31 languages and can be translated to other languages easily using the ‘smooth Translator’ utility that is included in the distribution.

With the tree browser, select quickly the directory to search for supported files (with or without including sub-directories). All files found are displayed in a main with a variable background colour to show, in one glance, the files in the same directory.

A second useful view mode, organizes the files by artist and by album to have a quick look to all the artists of your collection, and all albums for each artist.

The interface displays basic file informations taken from the file header, like bitrate or duration. With the interface, you can as well edit common tag fields as : title, artist, album, year, track number, genre and comment which were available into ID3v1.1 and ID3v2.3 tag. But you can also edit specials ID3v2.3 fields like : disc album, composer, original artist/performer, copyright, URL, encoder name and attached pictures.

Three differents scanners allow you to tag automatically from the filename, rename the file and directory from the tag, and process fields (for example to change the case). The first two scanners use a preview to avoid any mistakes and help you when using or creating yours own patterns.

If necessary you can use one of the both CDDB modes to fill yours tags with FreeDB servers. First, the automatic way tries to identify the selected files with the correct CDDB album. Else, a manual search lets you to search any word in the CDDB database to identify yourself the right album.

Also, you can load the content of a simple TXT file (containing filenames) to set name of each file.

Mass tagging is available with the scanners, but also with buttons to apply a field to all other selected files (small button on the right of each field).

To prevent mistakes, the undo and redo functions assist the user to recover the last changes.

The files collection can be export to a play list for Winamp or XMMS.

Currently plays mp3, ogg, wma, wav, flac, mp4 and radio streaming, allowing users to easily edit tags, organize music and rip Audio CDs.

In addition, Exaile also includes a built-in SHOUTcast directory browser, tabbed playlists (so you can have more than one playlist open at a time), blacklisting of tracks (so they don’t get scanned into your library), downloading of guitar tablature from fretplay.com, and submitting played tracks on your iPod to Last.fm.

Amongst its core features are the following:

Album covers – Amarok utilizes your existing album covers and displays them nicely in Context browser. If you do not have a cover, Amarok can download the appropriate one from the internet.

Lyrics support – Amarok automatically downloads and stores lyrics for your songs, thanks to the advanced and flexible scripting system.

Wikipedia integration – Amarok is one of the first applications to feature Wikipedia integration. Tons of information about your favorite artist is just one click away!

Contextual information – the Smart Context browser will give you a quick view on your currently played music, and suggest similar tracks that you might like.

Statistics – Easily track your music habits with a flexible and powerfull rating browser.

Last.fm integration – Amarok can submit information about your played tracks to your Last.fm profile, thus letting you use rich set of Last.fm features, like statistics, charts and more. Use Amarok to listen to Last.fm internet streams, which follow your music taste.

Rip CDs, play and sync your iPod, create playlists, and burn audio and MP3 CDs. Most portable music devices are supported.
